Suzanne Ramirez
Lyrical - Jazz Department Director
Master Teacher and Competitive Coach

Education: Extensive training in ballet, jazz and tap with a specialization in Contemporary and Hip-Hop. Teachers include George Skibine, Finis Jhung, Colibri Wegerer, Tanju Tuzer, J. David Kirby, Max Stone, Joe Lanteri, Joe Tremaine, Mia Michaels, Buster Cooper, Paul Draper, and Savion Glover. Attended Texas Woman's University for three years as a dance major and has attended master classes and conventions for the past twenty years. Continuing professional development includes traveling to Manhattan twice a year for study at Broadway Dance Center, Steps and Dance Space.
 
Teaching: Twenty years plus experience in studio, academic and convention settings. Currently teaching for Brookhaven College, Forcher's Dance Academy, Young Audiences and as Master Teacher and Competitive Coach for the Jazz Department of Dance Institute of Dallas. Other teaching experience includes assisting J. David Kirby and Max Stone at Southern Methodist University, conventions and in choreography for Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Dallas Ballet. Recently, she has been instrumental in the creation of the area's first hip hop class for college credit and has a library program teaching the history, cultural background and different influences in hip hop which has been presented in the north Texas area libraries. Most recently she has been hired as a guest artist/dance educator for the University of North Texas.
 
Choreography: Over one hundred National Awards for children's dance competitions including L.A.D.F."s "Best Choreography" 1990. She has choreographed for commercials, videos, industrials and concerts. Some clients have been General Motors, J.C. Penney, Showcase Productions, Chuck E. Cheese, Starsearch group "Bodyrock", Eddie Coker, Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Ft. Worth Gangster Deterrent Liaison-Youth Division and Dallas' Creative Solution Summer Program. Seven years of choreographic experience in university dance settings including El Centro College, Brookhaven College, University of North Texas, Texas Woman's University and Southern Methodist University.
