Leia Hardimon began her study of ballet in Oklahoma City and performed in her
first professional performance at the age of five with Ballet Oklahoma under the direction of
Edward Villella. She continued her study of ballet at Ballet Oklahoma until moving to Dallas
at the age of eight.
In Dallas, her professional training was at Dance Institute of Dallas and the balletfoundation. During her studies she trained under Norma Shields, Artistic Director; Soili Arvola, World Famous Prima Ballerina and Bronze Medalist; Leo Ahonen, World Famous Premier Danseur and Bronze Medalist. She was privately tutored in the roles of Sugar Plum Fairy, Giselle, and Black Swan by Nathalie Krassovska, World Famous Prima Ballerina. She was the first student to receive a "Performance Diploma" from Dance Institute after learning the full-length repertoire of Six Classical Ballets and Six Contemporary works along with over fifty variations from those ballets.
Mrs. Hardimon's performance repertoire includes Lilac Fairy and Princess Aurora from
Sleeping Beauty, Odette & Odile from Swan Lake, Medorah form Le Corsaire, Giselle, Cinderella, Paquita, La Bayadere Demi Corps, Spanish from Raymonda, Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen from Nutcracker and many contemporary works.
The 1996-1997 Performance Season of balletfoundation marked her first performances
as a professional artist. She holds the title of "Premier Professional Artist" for the foundation. Her performance in June, 1997 of Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty with International
Danseur and Bronze Medalist, Timour Bourtasenkov marked the "Premier Professional Performance" of the balletfoundation as the company took the step from the training of Pre Professional to Professional students.
Mrs. Hardimon serves as Assistant to the Director for Dance Institute and the Ballet Mistress for the balletfoundation where she teaches and assists with rehearsals and company classes. She performs with the balletfoundation as Resident Ballerina and is active in helping develop the foundation ballet training program as a center of professional study for the western hemisphere.
She received a Marketing Degree in 1998 and an Education Degree in 2001 with the goal of founding the education department for the balletfoundation professional students in the near future.
Mrs. Hardimon also serves the balletfoundation as choreographer for many performances. She was principal choreographer for The World Premier of "The Nutcracker Opera-Ballet" in 2000 and she was commission by the foundation to choreograph the World Premier of the Opera-Ballet, "In God I Trust" in the spring of 2001.
